In a violent altercation in Powai, Mumbai, a 24-year-old man was arrested for stabbing his girlfriend’s 21-year-old brother after a dispute over money for alcohol. The incident, which occurred on Friday night, escalated into a chaotic scene with threats to bystanders.

Details of the Attack

The confrontation began around 10 pm outside Diamond Chinese Corner in Powai. The accused, Nazeem Khan, reportedly demanded money for alcohol from Rishu Shrivastav, the brother of Khan’s girlfriend. When Rishu refused, Nazeem, armed with a knife, launched a brutal attack, stabbing Rishu multiple times in his stomach, chest, shoulders, and hands. Nazeem’s accomplice, Mainuddin Khan, also participated in the assault.

Violence and Threats

Following the attack on Rishu, Nazeem and Mainuddin turned their aggression towards Rishu’s friend, Harshad, stabbing him in the shoulder. They further intimidated and threatened passersby, warning them against intervening. According to Rishu’s cousin, Suraj Shrivastav, who witnessed the scene, Nazeem brandished the bloodied knife and threatened to kill anyone who attempted to help Rishu.

Immediate Response and Investigation

Suraj, who was nearby, quickly transported the injured Rishu to the Trauma Centre in Jogeshwari. The Powai police were alerted, and they promptly arrested Nazeem Khan and Mainuddin Khan. They are facing charges under sections 109, 115, 118(1), 3, 351, and 352 of the Bhartiya Nyay Sahinta for attempt to murder and assault. The accused are scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
